Personal data is any information about personal or factual circumstances that relates to an identified or identifiable person. This includes, for example, your name, date of birth, e-mail address, postal address or telephone number. In contrast, information of a general nature that cannot be used to determine your identity is not personal data. This includes, for example, the number of users of a website.
1. Processing of personal data and legal basis
For most of our service offerings registration is not required. You can therefore visit our website without telling us who you are.
We only collect and process access data that your internet browser automatically transmits to us for technical reasons in order to provide the website. Depending on the access protocol used, the log data record contains general information with the following contents: your session data (user behavior, length of stay, which links were clicked, etc.), your abbreviated or unabbreviated IP address, your browser version and your operating system. This data does not allow any direct inference to your person and is processed to improve our website offering and to defend against attempted attacks on our web server.
The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is the protection of our legitimate interests, which consist in particular of presenting you with a website optimized for your browser and enabling communication between our server and your terminal device (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR).
Otherwise, we only collect personal data from you if you voluntarily provide it to us on the website, for example, when you create a user account, register for a newsletter, download product materials or contact us.
You can also visit the website in general without disclosing personal data. In this case, however, you may not be able to use certain areas of the website or we may not be able to respond to a request from you.
If you sign up for any of our products or services (newsletter, press, webinar, product download), or visit a website operated by or on behalf of Think Silicon (a “Think Silicon Website”), you provide certain information to us in order to set up and maintain an account with us. This may include information such as your name, title, company, mailing address, email address and phone number. You may also provide information to us when you report a problem with one of our products or services, or with a Think Silicon Website, when you contact us with an account management question, a technical problem, to comment on a Think Silicon Website, or when you ask for information about our products or services. You may choose not to provide certain types of personal data to us, but please be aware that in that case some functionality may not be available to you. We will let you know prior to the collection of the information whether the provision of personal data we are requesting is compulsory or voluntary, and the consequences of not providing that information.
2. Where we process or store personal data
Think Silicon stores data on servers in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and also transfers and stores personal data outside the EEA.
Please note that privacy laws in countries outside of the EEA may not be the same as, and in some cases may be less protective than, privacy laws in your country. We transfer data relying on adequate mechanism under EU privacy laws, including the EU standard Model Clauses.
When we transfer personal data to servers controlled by a third-party data hosting company either within the EEA or operating outside of the EEA, we conduct security checks on these companies to ensure adequate safeguards are in place to protect the transfer of personal data. We take steps reasonably necessary to ensure that personal data is transferred securely.

We have appropriate security measures in place to protect against loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected. We use industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving personal data, we use network access control technology to limit access to the systems on which personal data is stored, and we monitor for possible vulnerabilities and attacks.
